Scandal Week in the NHL

So the NHL was coasting along in its latest incarnation, trumpeting its resurgence with the general public and with the die-hard fans. A league rededicated to offense and the speed and flow of hockey at its best was rapidly being reborn as a major sports league in North America, slowly washing away the stains of the extended lockout/strike, the Todd Bertuzzi affair only to be welcomed to the new NHL...one where some of its stars gamble illegally on major sports leagues, so far fortunately not their own, although that is yet to be confirmed.

While Rick Tocchet has surely earned the right to innocence until guilt is proven the reality is that...whether he did finance this illegal gambling operation or not....he has managed to negatively affect the image of the NHL in its most important year of operation since its initial formation. How can someone so highly thought of and so well respected throughout the hockey ranks have suffered such a brain cramp. For this ridiculousness Rick Tocchet has earned a spot on this week's BLACKLIST.

Another question is Janet Gretzky....WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??? Is your proliferation of wealth based not on your obviously unsuccesful acting/modeling career despite your eye-popping beauty (although it did net you the Great One so perhaps it was succesful?) but rather your husband's own eye-popping talent. Did you really need to be betting $75K on football, honestly if you had that kind of money to waste wouldn't it have been better spent on I don't know some sort of Cancer research....I think Wayne would have appreciated that more given his family's recent experience. For that Janet Gretzky you are number two on this week's BLACKLIST!

Lets rewind back to 2003-2004 games 6 and 7 of the first round series between Boston and Montreal....the idol of the day the unbelievable Jose Theodore was wowing Montreal and hockey faithful with his unbelievably good pressure packed play. Showing glimpses that perhaps he could lead the Canadiens on a run much like the former Canadiens Hockey Hero ...Patrick Roy. Sadly since then his NHL career has been knocked off track it is almost comical....unable to stop a puck he has been replaced by a goalie from France....yes that old hockey power France....not only that but he has recently tested positive for a banned substance...with his play of late one would have assumed it was some sort of hallucinogen that made him believe he was supposed to let pucks in the net....but NO it was to treat his ???Hair loss??? (last I checked he had a full head of hair) ... Propecia is a masking agent for steriods but anyone who has seen Theodore in person knows he is definitely not on the Juice...unless it is some sort of low-fat diet juice. Welcome to a world of embarassment for Jose....half is family is headed for jail due to loan-sharking, the only 60 Jose is seeing is the one on his sweater (we all know he doesn't last past the 2nd period), Fans in Montreal have been polled as wanting him traded, and well he's losing his hair....bald athletes never win anything...note Matt Hasselback in Super Bowl XL...Jose earns our TOMATOE of the week....for losing his hair and losing his game...leading many to think he is the modern day Samson.
